Time Lapse Art

So I’m on this new kick, or was for some reason, creating chalk art and time lapsing it with my Nikon D50 and Nikon Camera Capture Pro. I then take the image sequence into Quicktime Pro and seam together a movie. Comes out pretty cool and my mom was blown away by the result. My mom thinks I’m cool, at least.

Outrigger Media

So my friend TJ, who I’ve known since I was 12 or so, called me up and told me about a new company he was starting up. Outrigger Media which is a liaison for internet television advertising. Think placing ads anywhere you see video media on the web, mobile or any other device tv might show up these days. I’m a web developer so they needed a website that showcased their approach. This is what I came up with.

Grandfather Mountain, Boone NC

No summer is complete without the proverbial trip to the mountains so Audra, Jake, Matt Kelly and I drove up to Boone for a camp and hike up the old man. GF mountain is pretty freaking cool. We hiked 6 miles before we realized it was going to be dark before we got back to the car. Not good. Audra did know that there was a parking lot at the top for lazy hikers who can just drive up to the top. So we got ourselves to the parking lot and thumbed our ways back to the bottom where our car was. Good Times!

Dock Street Oyster Bar Website

Nicaragua April 2009

Nicaragua this year was pretty amazing. We showed up with a solid swell that made Colorados go off. The first shot below is one of the largest set waves we saw. Unfortunately the guy on the wave was someone I do not know but was catching more waves than anyone else. The following photo is from the Rancho Santana Club House looking North towards Popoyo. You can see Magnificent Rock in the background there before Popoyo. The final photo is of me at Manzanillo south of Gigante. A small fishing village in Rivas County. All in all it was a great trip and I truly missed my girl Audra the whole time. It was nice to be back!

Europe ‘09

Finally I make it to Europe. We flew into Munich, then Salzburg, then Innsbruck, then Vals, then Bergun, then Interlaken, then Basel, then Mulhouse, then Zurich, then Lucern, then Bern, then Basel again, then Munich again.

New Flyer Design

I was invited to design a flyer and tickets for a fashion show benifit. The show is called “Arts for the Arts Hair Fashion Show” and Nsalon Salon in Downtown Wilmington is putting it on. Proceeds go to the Kids Making It woodwork program.

I did my first ActionScript 3 project with a website for a friend of mine, Alexa Castillo. This one I had done everything from photography to the vine animations. The whole thing is animated using AS3 and motion tweens, alpha channel FLV videos for the vines and a bunch of photo tweaking in Photoshop.

Backyard Bowl Series OBX

What a great event they put on in the spring out there in the Outer Banks. Backyard Bowl Series (BBS) is a series of backyard pool contest. This particular one we took team riders from the DoubleWide Shop. Clayton Lane and Cameron Redwine. Both kicked some serious ass in their divisions. The big boys got to rock the pool as well. I got to skate with one of NC best pool riders Dave Maxwell AKA Science Fair. He was giving me advice on how to get more speed. Unforgettable time!

Azalea Festival Ramp Jam

April was a good month in Wilmington. The DoubleWide Skate and Surf Shop put on a great show for the Azalea Festival onlookers. Here is a really quick video of us putting together the 40 foot wide halfpipe. It was prebuilt in Hampstead and then taken apart in sections which was pieced together here right on Market and 2nd Street in Downtown Wilmington. I did an image time lapse with my Nikon d50 and then compiled it together to mike a quick movie. If you look close I’m wearing a yellowish shirt.
